Noah vs. Technology: The Untold Battle

August 28, 20252 min read

Some days I do not know whether to laugh or cry. Without faith, family, and friends, I suspect crying would win far more often. Today was one of those days.

Recently I have shared about Noah’s ripping, tearing, and his quest to break every dish we own. Well, today he decided to raise the stakes. In the past, Noah has already claimed two televisions in our basement. The first met its untimely death after being propped against the wall. Noah spotted it and launched a full-scale attack with his feet and a Maglite flashlight. Shane swears he has never heard me scream that loud in his life.

The second television went down under more mysterious circumstances. All we know is one of the girls tried to turn it on and the screen was gone. Our best guess? Noah turned it into a racetrack for his Matchbox cars. The “road” carved into the screen was only about two inches wide.

Fast forward to today. Shane had been given a beautiful digital frame this summer by close friends. I told Noah repeatedly this one belonged to Pop Shane. I even dug out an older frame, loaded it with pictures, and told him that was his. He could look, but he could not touch the new one.

Apparently, my words were taken as a challenge. The frame is now cracked, broken, and very much done for. After I sighed so hard my soul almost left my body, I looked at Ilyia in disbelief, confiscated a few of Noah’s favorite toys for destroying Pop Shane’s, and walked away. When I returned, I discovered Noah had carefully hidden the broken frame in a drawer. He knew. I still do not know why.

Parents, does this sound familiar? Please tell me how you have survived digital destruction, because right now I need a support group and possibly a GoFundMe for electronics.
