A Ray of Hope: Discovering Bella Machre
As a mother of a child with many needs, I am always searching for resources, support, and advice that can make a real difference. Recently, I discovered a wonderful organization in Maryland called Bella Machre. The name means “Home of My Heart” in Gaelic, and after learning more about them, that translation could not be more fitting.
According to their website, Bella Machre’s mission is “a lifetime commitment to providing loving care, opportunity, and guidance for people with developmental disabilities in Maryland.”
They offer a wide range of services including community-based day and employment programs, one-on-one personal supports, and residential services for adults, seniors, children, and teens.
One program that especially caught my attention is called Ray of Hope. Designed and funded by Bella Machre, this program supports individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities of all ages across Maryland. It provides financial assistance to those who:
Need funding for items or services that improve quality of life
Have not yet been deemed eligible for services through the Developmental Disabilities Administration (DDA)
Face gaps in funding, such as medications, appointments, or equipment not covered by insurance or other sources
My family and I recently met with a representative from Bella Machre to learn more, and we were truly impressed by all that they offer.
If you or someone you know could benefit from these services, please share this information. I will also be adding Bella Machre to the Resources page on lifewithnoah.com.
