Lessons, Laughter, and Lots of Coffee: Ms. Logan's Stories of Noah- Part 1
Noah’s middle school special educator, Jillian Logan, was kind enough to take on the same five questions as others in his village. Most of her stories happened within the walls of the school, which makes them both fascinating and funny. She shared so much that I decided to split her post in two, complete with pictures and videos. Jillian was truly a blessing to Noah, surviving his daily attempts to escape gym class and every other creative antic he could invent.
1. What is the funniest “Noah moment” you ever witnessed?
Just one? Working with Noah for three years gave me many fond memories and enough material for a sitcom. One of my favorite memories was during our Panther Pals Club, a club for students with and without disabilities to build friendships. We went caroling through the halls and into classrooms, and Noah dressed as Santa, microphone in hand, ready to spread Christmas cheer. He led the way for the entire group and he was so proud even when he did not know all of the lyrics!
2. If Noah had a job title based on how you know him, what would it be?
If it were up to Noah, his title would involve firetrucks, flags, the Star-Spangled Banner, and a microphone, a ceremonial leader of some kind! During middle school, Noah tried out several school-based jobs. He loved sweeping (sometimes making a mess just so he could clean it up). He greeted staff during “Pie-day Friday,” when the class sold pre-Thanksgiving pies and treats, and he helped run our mobile “Caffeination Station.” Noah took great pride in offering, sometimes demanding, that staff add creamer to their coffee. He was equally unimpressed when someone preferred it black (I agreed with him on that one). His favorite role, though, was pushing the coffee cart, once the hot liquids were safely out of the way, of course.
